How each number is worked out
- Age counts whole years and months to today, then the days since your last monthly anniversary.
- Days lived are calendar days from your birth date to today. Weeks are days ÷ 7; months are whole months completed.
- Hours, minutes and seconds run from midnight at the start of your birth date, so they are approximate.
- Sleep is days lived × the average hours you choose — an estimate, not a measurement.
- Mornings are one per day since the day you were born; weekends count every Saturday since then.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my date of birth sent anywhere?
No. Every number on this page is worked out by your browser, on your device. Your date of birth is never sent to Dailica or anyone else, and it is not stored.
How is "days lived" counted?
It is the number of calendar days from your date of birth to today's date on your device. Hours, minutes and seconds are counted from midnight at the start of your birth date, because the time of birth is not known — so they are approximate.
How do you estimate the hours I have slept?
Days lived multiplied by the average sleep per day you choose (8 hours unless you change it). It is an estimate: real sleep varies through life and from night to night.
What if I was born on 29 February?
In years without a 29 February, your birthday and the ages you reach are counted on 28 February.
What is the life expectancy benchmark?
It is the World Bank's figure for life expectancy at birth in the country you choose — an average for a whole population. It is shown only for comparison and is not a prediction of how long any individual will live.
