What if I spend 2 hours every day on one activity?
Two hours a day — on a phone, a hobby, a commute or a new language — added up into days and years.
Over 10 years that adds up to
304 days, 9 hours
- Hours in total
- 7,305
- Whole 24-hour days
- 304
- Waking days
- 457
- Share of your waking time
- 12.5%
- 40-hour working weeks
- 183
Assumptions behind this result
- 120 minutes a day, 7 days a week, for 10 years.
- A "waking day" is 16 hours, the waking hours you set.
- A working week is counted as 40 hours.
- A year is counted as 365.25 days, so leap years are included.
Two hours a day is easy to give to almost anything. Over years it becomes a share of your waking life you can actually see. Set the minutes, the days a week and the years — the activity is up to you.
How it is worked out
Total hours are minutes a day ÷ 60 × active days, where active days are years × 365.25 × days a week ÷ 7.
Waking days divide those hours by your waking hours instead of by 24, which is closer to how the time actually feels. Your share of waking time is your daily hours, averaged over the week, divided by your waking hours.
